After you have installed simon and HTK you can now configure the daemon (k)simond and the application simon.

ksimond

Please start ksimond from its entry in your menu.

You should then get a white circle in your system tray (the part of the task bar left to your clock).

Click on the symbol and the configuration of ksimond opens up.

Here you can configure how ksimond should start. Usually it's a good idea to keep ksimond starting after login and automatically (re-)start simond.

Change to the "User" section and click "Add" to add a new user. Enter any username and password, then press "Ok" to add the user to the database.

simon

Now, please start simon.

Connect to simond by clicking on "Connect" and simon will prompt you for the username and password. Enter the username / password combination that you defined in the previous step and tick the checkbox to remember the password if you don't want to be asked again.
